Verschillende wetenschappers geven aan dat de mogelijkheid groot is dat op vrij korte termijn het Westen van de Verenigde Staten aan de beurt is voor nog een grote aardbeving. Ze zijn echter niet de eersten die erover begonnen. Degenenen die trouwens de aardbevingen in Japan onlangs nog voorspeld hebben, waren niet de eersten.
Aan het begin van de vorige eeuw was het Edgar Cayce die voorspelde dat ergens rond het jaar 2000 wegens een verschuiving van de as van de aarde bepaalde gebieden meters lager komen te liggen en door overstromingen getroffen zullen worden, waaronder Japan.

Dus, lekker met z'n allen wachten op het volgende R3 event (ofwel een zonnevlam van de categorie X1 of groter, zoals de X6 een dag voor de aardbeving in Japan) om tdan al met vrij grote zekerheid vast te kunnen stellen dat de voorspelling van Edgar Cayce zeer waarschijnlijk ook daarin correct is.
